A shield of honor awarding ceremony celebrates the grand achievement of RHU Heatechs team

The RHU Heatechs team is the proud winner of the 2018 Hult Prize Lebanon, the largest startup and first-of-its-kind award in the Arab world to-date of USD 250,000. The team’s grand achievement was celebrated in a special ceremony organized by RHU on December 3, 2018 and attended by MP Mohamad Hajjar, Mr. Mostafa Zaatari, former Director General of Hariri Foundation, RHU President, Dr. Makram Suidan, vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff and students. The ceremony was held at 11:00 a.m. in RHU main theatre.

A shield of honor and medallions were bestowed upon the Heatechs team members Mr. Jawad Haidar, Rawan Ghalayini, Rabab Kawtharany, Adam Choufi, Housam Matbouli, Dr. Rami Khatib and Dr. Nagham Ismail. Moreover, shields of honor were also presented to Hult Prize Foundation represented by COO Mr. Karim Samra, and BLOM BANK represented by Ms. Maya Kadi, Deputy General Manager of BLOM Invest and on Banque du Liban - The Central Bank of Lebanon, in recognition of their roles in nurturing youth talent and entrepreneurial skills.

Following the Lebanese National Anthem RHU Hult Prize Campus Director Mr. Khaled Zaatari and the event’s MC welcomed the attendees to the event and invited RHU President, Dr. Makram Suidan, to deliver his address.

“Thinking of this university, RHU has the lowest student-to-faculty ratio in comparison to other universities in Lebanon, which means that students and faculty become friends and they start talking outside just what the course entails,” said RHU President. This can make a big difference in the quality of education that RHU student receives, i.e. the number of faculty members available to each student, including more individual attention, greater student involvement, and greater faculty availability for students. This all but means that quality education is engrained in the RHU culture and that RHU can be the hub that engenders transformative learning, inspire and provoke intellectual curiosity and foster entrepreneurship.

Following were words from Mr. Karim Samra and Ms. Maya Al Kadi and the Heatechs team who received Shields of Honor from RHU President Dr. Makram Suidan and Vice President for Development Mr. Hisham Kobrosli. All were then invited to a lunch outside the President’s Office.
