As part of its commitment to bridging academic theory with industry practice, the RHU Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering hosted a technical seminar with Mr. Khodor Yassine, a seasoned expert in power generation. Speaking to mechanical engineering students, Mr. Yassine shared insights from his experience at the Jiyi Power Plant, highlighting operational challenges and engineering decisions that influence energy systems. His talk reinforced key concepts from the Thermodynamics course taught by RHU lecturer Dr. Manar Younis, demonstrating the real-world applications of classroom learning.

Mr. Yassine addressed topics such as efficiency losses, heat rate calculations, and turbine maintenance, offering students a practical understanding of how theoretical models are applied in the energy sector. The session sparked engaging discussions and deepened students’ appreciation for the relevance of their studies in addressing today’s energy challenges.

The event served as a powerful example of RHU’s commitment to experiential learning, where students are regularly exposed to industry professionals and real-world case studies that enrich their academic journey and develop career-ready graduates.
RHU extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Yassine for his time, insight, and dedication to supporting the next generation of engineers.
