In a keynote address during the New Student Orientation Program on September 5, 2017 at the theatre, RHU President Dr. Ahmad Smaili welcomed students with a challenge: "Studying and learning new skills is becoming average, standard, given... We all have to step up our efforts to fight corruption and live up to our responsibilities by caring more. Knowledge and skills are not enough, attitude is.” Dr. Smaili underscored RHU’s commitment to offering students the best possible university experience, enabling meaningful interactions between faculty, staff and students.
The Student Affairs Office organized the two-week orientation program for new students, starting with general orientation sessions and culminating with the RHU Annual Welcome Party. The RHU culture of “Caring More” leveraged all activities to smoothen what constitutes a major life change for new students, the transition from school to university. In addition to the general orientation session, “Ask Me” booths were distributed all over campus and assisted students with their needs and inquiries. Administrative staff operated their booths in the library to be easily found and directly answer students’ questions.
RHU Clubs held their club recruitment week to introduce their various activities, while RHU Athletics Department entertained several sports activities in football, basketball and table tennis. RHU students rejoiced the arrival of the new academic year during the annual Welcome Party held on September 14. Students mingled and watched performances by RHU talented students and by “Looney Tunes” band form Balamand University. They enjoyed competitions and mini games and barbecue served by faculty and staff members.
