Dear Students,
I hope this message finds you well. As we embrace the challenges and uncertainties that come with providing an enriching learning experience during these times, I want to emphasize our commitment to maintaining academic continuity for students enrolled in in-person programs on our campus.
I understand that many of you have had to leave the country due to the current situation. Students who are compelled to travel must submit a written request to the Student Affairs Office which assesses the case and then informs the Registrar’s Office which then emails the advisor, instructors, and the student. Despite the physical distance, it is crucial that we maintain the continuity of your learning and provide the support you need.
Here are some key points to consider:
- Health and Safety: Your well-being is our utmost priority. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment. Please adhere to all safety protocols of the University
- Communication: If you are facing any challenges that may affect your ability to engage in coursework, please communicate with your professors as soon as possible. They are here to support you and can provide guidance on how to catch up on missed work.
- Flexibility: We understand that the challenges you're facing may vary. If you encounter difficulties due to your remote location or other circumstances, don't hesitate to reach out to your professors or academic advisors. They are here to help and accommodate your needs. Faculty will be flexible with attendance policies and assignments for those who may need to temporarily engage in remote learning.
- Access to Course Material: We are working diligently to ensure that you have access to course materials, even if you cannot be physically present. Professors are encouraged to make lecture notes, assignments, and other essential resources available online. Please check your course's online platform for updates.
- Engagement and Interaction: As for students who travel outside the country and receive approval, it's essential to remain engaged in your studies. Participate in online discussions and any digital learning activities your professors may arrange. Stay connected with your classmates through online collaboration tools.
- Adapting Syllabi: Instructors will consider adapting their course syllabi while giving priority to covering essential chapters and ensuring the achievement of your learning.
- Technological Preparedness: Ensure that you are proficient in using the university's digital platforms and are familiar with these tools as well. Additionally, take advantage of digital resources and e-learning platforms available to you. If you encounter technology-related issues, reach out to our IT support team for assistance.
- Time Management: Effective time management is key during difficult situations. Plan your schedules and prioritize your most important academic tasks to maintain progress.
While we hope for an uninterrupted academic experience on our campus, it is our collective responsibility to prepare for all scenarios and ensure that education continues without interruption. We are committed to providing support, resources, and guidance to both students and faculty during these challenging times.
Please reach out to department heads, deans, or the provost's office for any additional guidance or resources. Our commitment to academic continuity remains unwavering, and together, we can overcome any challenges that come our way.
Thank you for your dedication to education and your commitment to creating a safe and enriching learning environment for all.
Take Care,
Hiam Loutfi
