RHU College of Arts held their third workshop on “Teaching Peace through Reading and Story Telling” on Saturday, January 14 at RHU Campus. It was delivered by Dr. Hiam Lotfi, Chairperson of the Languages and Humanities Department as a national pathway to peace. The workshop helped develop the skills of yet another group of teachers from Iqleem, Shouf, Saida, and Mount Lebanon in implementing peace education across Lebanese school curricula.
The workshop aims at integrating basic social and emotional learning and conflict resolution education into school curriculum. It teaches self-awareness, empathy, impulse control and motivation. “Creating peace within oneself before teaching peace is essential. Teaching peace through reading can be systemically embedded,” says Dr. Lotif.
