RHU civil engineering alumna (BS 2014, MS 2016), Aya Bayoumi, defended her Ph.D. thesis in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, entitled Studying Post-Seismic Soil Behavior in Laboratory: A proposed Model to Assess Free-Field Settlement,” on July 18, 2022, at Université de Sherbrooke, QC, Canada.
Her study contributes to the geotechnical engineering domain by widening the understanding standards of the dynamic soil behavior and offering practitioners a robust tool to determine earthquake-resulted settlement.
“My thesis dissertation and defense were given the 'Excellent' mention. My thesis got nominated for the Thesis Excellence Award at Université de Sherbrooke. “
Throughout 5 years, Dr. Bayoumi's research work resulted in a total of 5 journal papers and 4 international conference papers. She has recently joined the Mine Waste Section, Vancouver BC, Canada, as a Consultant Geotechnical Engineer, where she can apply the research and practical experience that she developed during the past five years
