The RHU Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has a lot to celebrate. RHU civil engineering alumna (BS 2013, MS 2016), Dima Youness, has defended her Ph.D. in civil engineering -concrete and cement materials and is honored for research excellence at Sherbrooke University in Quebec, Canada on October 22, 2021.
Her thesis project, titled “Synergy between binders and alternative binders and their impact on the rheology of flowable concrete with adapted rheology,” was funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Dr. Youness has been merited several scholarships throughout her Ph.D., including Bourse Eureka, University of Sherbrooke, Faculty of Civil and Building Engineering in 2020, and Bourse de Michel Pigeon, ACI Quebec and East Ontario, the best research project among all universities of Quebec and East Ontario.
Dr. Youness is a member of the American Concrete Institution ACI. She has published six peer-review journal papers from her Ph.D. Her thesis supervisors, industrial chair professor Ammar Yahia and professor Arezki Tagnit Hamou have several industrial research partners.
