RHU rejoiced as news is received April 19, 2018 that RHU alumnus Wassim Hariri - وسيم الحريري has been named the 2018 Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST Net) Tech-I Competition Grand Champion. Taking the first place of the competition among 50 other competitors from 100 countries over the world through his breakthrough invention SASHA is a grand achievement and a pride to his country and his fellow Lebanese.
SASHA, Smart Autonomous System for Hospital Assistance, uses a uniquely designed robot to fully automate food distribution in hospitals.
The Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) is a U.S. Department of State initiative that supports young innovators and entrepreneurs, through networking, skills building, mentoring, and access to financing, in order to help them build successful startups that present solutions to economic and development challenges.
The GIST has succeeded in achieving its goal in 136 emerging economies worldwide through competitions, startup boot camps, and interactive online programs that are implemented by VentureWell and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
