RHU alums develop a robot to enhance children's communication and social skills, including those with autism

RHU takes immense pride in the innovation developed by mechatronics engineering graduates Mohammad Al Kaderi and Mohammad Daoud, who developed a robot named VIBE to improve children's communication and social skills, including those with autism. Journalist and content producer Ms. Farah Slayi interviewed them on Friday, October 10, at the RHU campus and featured the interview on her YouTube channel.

Al Kaderi and Daoud explained that they had been working on the robot for two years. The robot has a body, eyes, and a movable head. It uses artificial intelligence to detect and track human faces and facial expressions. Based on these detections, it can respond accordingly using light, sound, and eye reactions.

The robot is also supported by educational programs and live data collection to provide feedback and assist professionals such as doctors and teachers who work with children. This gives the child more exercises to improve, provides the professional with more data to analyze, and offloads work from them, enabling them to help more children.
