On April 4, 2025, the RHU Languages and Liberal Arts Unit, in partnership with Toastmasters Lebanon, hosted an exhilarating public speaking competition that brought together talented contestants from RHU and local Lebanese high schools. The event showcased the power of effective communication, offering a platform for students to demonstrate their eloquence and creativity.
The competition featured two dynamic categories: Prepared Speeches and Impromptu Speeches, both of which were rigorously judged by a distinguished panel of Toastmasters Lebanon members. Their expert evaluation highlighted the professionalism and caliber of the participants, who captivated the audience with their speeches.
The winners of the Prepared Speeches category were: 1st place, Hassan Chreide; 2nd place, Jana Al-Noqari; and 3rd place, Mira El-Hajj. In the Impromptu speeches, the winners were: 1st place, Aya Bassam; 2nd place, Ali Daaboul; and 3rd place, Maria Saab.
The contestants impressed with both their delivery and ability to inspire and connect. In addition to monetary prizes, high school winners received 50% scholarships in recognition of their talent and dedication, while all participants were awarded certificates for their courage, commitment, and hard work.
The event drew a vibrant crowd of university administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents, all celebrating the transformative power of public speaking. The atmosphere buzzed with energy and inspiration as speakers delivered powerful messages highlighting the importance of communication.
This competition highlighted RHU’s commitment to student engagement, leadership, and community involvement, reinforcing the crucial role of public speaking in personal and professional growth.
