RHU is proud of its class 2019 mechatronics engineering graduate Jawad Haidar for completing his master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the American University of Beirut. The US-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) offered him a full scholarship to complete his degree.
Jawad is now a visiting research scholar at the Image and Video Understanding Lab of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). He is working on developing virtual episodic memory based on long-term visual trackers using integrated deep learning and computer vision techniques.
Mr. Haidar conducts his research in computer vision and artificial intelligence to develop novel and efficient approaches to real-time hyperspectral image classification and photometric calibration. The IEEE-organized Whispers Conference published his work. He has one conference paper submitted at the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference and another journal article at Automation in Construction (impact factor 10.517).
