RHU is on a mission to revolutionize education and ignite innovation, even amidst the challenging circumstances in Lebanon. Recently, Dr. Grasiella Harb from the Languages and Liberal Arts Unit participated in the eb-Conference 2024, delivering a presentation titled "AI for Developing Thinkers, Not Passive EFL Learners."
She opened her presentation with a powerful statement: “AI is here to stay, and we need to collaborate across all disciplines to stay one step ahead. We must view AI as a complementary and constructive tool, not a replacement for our vital human roles."
Dr. Harb discussed both the potential opportunities and threats that AI presents in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes. She concluded her session by demonstrating various approaches to effectively integrate AI tools into learning-oriented tasks within EFL communication courses. This integration empowers learners to develop more reflective and authoritative voices.
"By actively involving EFL learners in a reflective learning process, we enhance their critical thinking skills—an essential aptitude for the evolving job market," she emphasized.
