RHU faculty member presents at IATEFL International Conference 2025

RHU assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Languages and Liberal Arts Unit, Dr. Maysaa Banat made an impactful contribution to the IATEFL International Conference 2025 in Edinburgh, UK, on April 9, 2025. She delivered a workshop titled “Enhance Research with AI: Tools and a Four-Step Literature Review,” demonstrating how AI can be integrated into the research process. The session provided researchers and educators with a practical, step-by-step framework to enhance their literature reviews using AI-powered tools while also sparking discussions on AI’s evolving role in academia.

The interactive session attracted over 50 attendees, with additional participants joining informally due to a strong interest in the topic. Researchers, educators, and academic professionals from diverse institutions worldwide engaged actively in the discussions, highlighting the global relevance of integrating AI into academic research.

In alignment with Demis Hassabis, CEO and co-founder of DeepMind, who stated: “Artificial intelligence will revolutionize research, not by replacing human intelligence, but by amplifying it, accelerating discovery, uncovering patterns, and expanding the boundaries of knowledge beyond what was once imaginable,” Dr. Banat’s workshop underscored this vision, focusing on how AI tools can amplify human insight, rather than replace it, thereby accelerating the research process and expanding the frontiers of knowledge.

Dr. Banat’s session not only reinforced RHU’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation but also highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to ethically integrate AI into research and education. This workshop is a testament to RHU's forward-thinking approach in preparing students and faculty to navigate the evolving landscape of academia, where technology plays an increasingly crucial role.
