Associate Professor and Chair of Financial Studies Department at the College of Business Administration, Dr. Ibrahim Akoum, has been selected by the UN-ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) as a member of a technical cooperation working group that comprises 10 academics and civil society experts from the Arab region to promote Arab Internet Governance.
The Group held its First Preparatory Meeting for the implementation of the ESCWA-LAS initiative on Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF2020) in Cairo, Egypt during May 29-31. The Group’s mandate is to assess the efforts of the Forum during the past five years, study the challenges the Forum has faced, and propose improvement on the Forum’s processes and work program during its second term 2016-2020.
The Arab Dialogue on Internet Governance (ArabDIG) aims at ensuring appropriate participation and positioning of the Arab region in the Internet governance arena. Within this framework, ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) launched the ArabDIG initiative in order to consolidate efforts and harmonize implementation of activities that assist Arab countries in reaching common Internet governance goals.
