The IEEE EMBS RHU Student Branch Chapter and RHU Biotech Society in the College of Engineering celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the Lebanese Independence by honoring the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) Black Panthers unit for winning the 10th Annual Warrior Competition on Thursday, December 06, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. RHU President, Dr. Makram Suidan, presented General Fouad Khoury a shield of honor as a symbol of respect and gratitude to the ISF’s special forces and their recent achievement. The event ended with several interesting activities performed by the panthers including martial arts, K9 show, rappel and bus raiding.
In a brief presentation, First Lieutenant Hussein Mehdi thanked RHU for the initiative, stating that it is in harmony with ISF’s quinquennial plan aiming to bridge the gap with civil society. Two short videos followed. The first one consisted of a summary of the annual Warrior Competition’s activities while the second one included clips on real life missions performed by the Black Panthers squad.
Later, General Foaud Khoury, head of the ISF’s police Special Forces presented the mission of the Black Panthers and described the tasks in which they are summoned to ensure the safety of Lebanon and its residents.
