The Design Department at the RHU College of Arts and Sciences recently hosted a captivating lecture titled "Echoes of Tradition: The Influence of Islamic Art in Contemporary Design", delivered by Dr. Lina Hassoun, faculty member and expert in visual culture and design. The event offered a thought-provoking exploration of how the timeless principles of Islamic art continue to inspire and shape modern creative expression across disciplines.

Dr. Hassoun guided attendees through the rich visual language of Islamic art, focusing on its foundational elements, geometry, arabesques, calligraphy, and aniconism, and their enduring relevance in today’s design practices. From architecture and furniture design to graphic and digital media, the lecture demonstrated how contemporary designers creatively reinterpret traditional motifs using modern materials, technologies, and cultural contexts.

Emphasizing the historical, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of Islamic art, Dr. Hassoun highlighted the depth and symbolism embedded in these artistic traditions. The session shed light on how such traditions not only retain their significance in the modern world but also contribute meaningfully to the evolving global design landscape.

This lecture reflects RHU’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, cultural appreciation, and critical thinking within the creative fields.
