Two milestones in the life of RHU were set on October 26, 2016. RHU inaugurated two grand projects, the Middle East Airlines Conference Hall and the Solar PV Power Plant, built on the common grounds of the desire to give. A ceremonial event held under the patronage of Mrs. Nazik Rafik Hariri, President of RHU Board of trustees and President of Rafik Hariri Foundation, embraced all the contributors to the realization of those grand undertakings.

RHU President, Dr. Riad Chedid, welcomed Ms. Salwa Siniora Baasiri, representing Mrs. Nazik Rafik Hariri, to a ceremonial ribbon cutting of both projects, surrounded by Dr. Daoud Sayeg,  representing H.E. Saad Hariri, Mr. Mohamad Al Hout Chairman of the Board of Middle East Airlines, Mr. Neemat Frem CEO and Founder of Endevco Group and Phoenix Energy, Mr. Cyril Dewaleyne representing Her Excellency Head of the European Delegation in Lebanon Ms. Christina Lassen, Mr. Joseph Al Assad on behalf of the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation, and Mr. Mario El Khoury representing Mr. Wael Hamdan from Lebanon Central Bank.

In his word, Dr. Riad Chedid provided a description of both projects. The Middle East Airlines Conference Hall Rafik, he indicated, is a result of a generous contribution from Mr. Mohamad El Hout to enhancing the quality of education at RHU. It holds 121 seat, modern audio visual equipment and an external covered area for relaxation and socialization.

He also indicated that RHU took a rational step towards proper energy consumption, sending the right message to all of Lebanon. RHU Photo Voltaic (PV) Solar Energy Power Plant project, developed by Phoenix Energy, member of INDEVCO Group, is a bold step towards protecting the Earth's climate by significantly reducing the use of fossil fuels. To develop this project, RHU received a low interest loan from Banque du Liban - The Central Bank of Lebanon, as an encouragement to renewable energy projects in Lebanon from its governance.

Mr. Mohamad El Hout then delivered a word on the occasion followed by words from Mr. Cyril Dewaleyne, Dr. Joseph Al Assad, and Mr. Neemat Frem.

Mr. Mohamad El Hout, Mr. Cyril Dewaleyne, and Mr. Wael Hamdan were called to stage to receive a recognition award for their contributions from RHU President and Mr. Salwa Siniora Baasiri.
