RHU junior mechanical engineering students Mohamad Mourad, Jad Traboulsi, and Sleiman Smaili developed an autonomous solar powered plant watering system for domestic and commercial applications. The educational and conceptual prototype is designed using fundamentals of Thermodynamics and constructed via simple measuring and instrumentation methods.
The system integrates various electro-mechanical components that preliminary senses soil moisture and delivers water at a controlled volume flow rate. A mechanical based volume flow rate controller is designed to achieve this purpose. Assistant professor of mechanical engineering, Dr. Iyad Fayssal, supervised their project.
