RHU students taking the Satellite Communication course and the course instructor visited the weather station at Rafik Hariri International Airport on Monday, March 7, 2017. The visit, planned by the Computer and Communications Engineering Department, aimed to help students explore weather forecasting via satellite, one of the topics covered in the course.
Students observed how temperature, speed of wind, and humidity data is gathered and analyzed using satellite images. The purpose of the weather station is to accurately forecast weather to ensure the safety of the aircrafts during landing and takeoff, the main reason for placing it at the airport.
