RHU Public Speaking Club organized RHU annual Public Speaking Competition on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in RHU theatre. Six brave contestants competed before an RHU jury of faculty members to select the two best contestants to represent RHU in the University Speaking Competition, which will be held at LAU on January 14, 2018. The winner, will in turn represent Lebanon in the International Public Speaking Competition taking place in London in May, 2018.
The jury members included RHU faculty members, Dr. Hiam Loutfi, Ms. Sandra Whitehead, and Dr. Najwa Fares- the club advisor- served as the jury in this competition. The top three winners were Ibrahim Mattar (1st place), Omar Ghazzawi (2nd place), and karam Awar (3rd place). Because neither Omar nor Karam are eligible to take part in the International Public Speaking Competition (older than 20.5 years), Sherine Halab (4th place) is going to represent RHU at LAU together with Ibrahim Mattar. According to the jury members and the audience, the contestants this year were remarkable and their speeches reflected creative and mature ideas.
