Mission, objectives and outcomes

Mission

The Math and Science Unit aims to meet the educational needs of other departments; adequately prepare future computer scientists and engineers for the mathematical and scientific needs of their disciplines, as well as to give all students on campus a general education in math and sciences; help students understand the interdisciplinary connections within Math and Sciences, and apply this knowledge to foster connections with professional communities; and equip students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to think critically in solving complex problems.

Educational Objectives

The objectives of the Math and Science unit intend to enable students to:

Apply their knowledge gained from Math and Science courses in their curricula.
Provide students with broad exposure to mathematical and scientific fields essential in computer sciences, engineering, and other disciplines.
Equip students with comprehensive knowledge in Math and Science necessary for pursuing graduate studies
Critically analyze data, make informed decisions, and solve real-world problems using scientific and mathematical tools.
